Dear Frank,

Sunday I was with my boyfriend (we are both young Christians). I grabbed his laptop to go to the postsecret website. As I typed in the postsecret address the computer filled in the url with a pornography website.

I used my boyfriend's laptop again to look up postsecret and the computer filled in the url with recently visited sites about pre and post nuptial agreements.

In my attempts to read other people's secrets, I discovered his.

Subject: Attention Humans: Sale Extended

Dear fellow primates,

My name is Cole Richards and I am writing very innocently to inform you that our Black Friday sale at www.pvpstuff.com has been extended to Monday, November 30th. Instead of offering you a sale for one day, we are offering you a sale for three days.

This is something we are doing to be nice to you. This is not a plot by a superior being to undermine our company in his first step towards the eventual domination of our entire race. So please feel free to take advantage of our savings and do not consider the long-term consequences of your actions.

Enjoy the remainder of your pathetic lives holiday weekend.

Sincerely,
Cole Richards (not secretly a cat)

I hate X-Mas shopping. So stressful. But the deals are undeniable! I didn't do that Black Friday shit like some crazy ppl do, but the fam and I went to our annual pilgrimage to Japantown. Everything is sooooo expensive! It's pretty insane.

But I got my brother some stuff as well as some other friends some things. I kind of started early with my X-Mas shopping, doing a bit here and there during the past few months. But yeah...it was a good day. Went to our usual Japanese restaurant and they delivered once again. Great tempura! I love the stuff. Of course, anything fried will generally taste good...but it's awesome. Im just coming out of my food coma now. Debating on whether or not to go out tonite...hmmmm

Giving or Getting a Scott Pilgrim Poster

The posters are now on sale at Page 45 in the city of Nottingham, UK, for £4.99 each.

They are also still available on the Oni Press web store (which I believe only ships to the USA).

I believe the Beguiling (in Toronto) has/had some of the posters, and they should still be selling the t-shirts (which they ship overseas!).

I can't send you a poster if you live elsewhere in the world. Sorry! I don't have any posters.

The Tudors

I think the CBC blew half its budget on The Tudors because the whole time that I lived in Toronto, every bus and every subway car was plastered with Jonathan Rhys Meyers' pouting face and ten yards of cleavage. I believe we've all learned a valuable lesson here, and that is William Cecil may have been a crack statesman, but if he wants to me to give a shit about him he better start hitting the gym.

Gabe: We've been talking about First Party for a long time and yesterday the site finally went live. We love making T-shirts and we have no intention of stopping, but not everyone can, or wants to wear T-shirts all the time. Some of you might work in an office during the day or maybe you just want something a little classier in the closet. Honestly First Party isn't going to be for everyone. My guess is that some of you guys are gonna hit the site and scratch your heads. If that's the case it's just not for you and that's ...

Influence

posted by: [info]rosalarian

Most of the people who had a great influence on me, who were role models for me, are dead. But there is one person who is not: high school art teacher.

We caught up today. It's been about five years since I saw her last. (Six since I graduated from high school. Has it only been six years?)

We were quite close in high school. I'd stay after school lots of times, hanging out in the art room. I learned a lot from her, but she also let me do my own things. It was a perfect balance of freedom and structure.

And we had... the Art Cult.

"Dara, you're so talented! When I grow up, I wanna be juuuuuuust liiiiiiiiiike Daaara!" -All said in unison by six girls in high pitched voices. Whenever someone (not just Dara) did something really cool, we'd all say it. Creeped the hell out of everyone else in class, but god damn it was fun.

I'm not one of those people who wishes she could be back in high school. (For one thing, I'd have to deal with Twilight fans. I don't care one way or the other, and where I am in my life, nobody else I know cares either.) But it's nice to have someone help me remember the good times.

My memory is a terrible thing, full of holes, retaining the strangest things and tossing out things I want to keep. I keep my memories in other people.

I went to see New Moon yesterday. Half of it was hilarious, and half of it was so bad it wasn't even funny, which was disappointing. My cousin kept looking over at the expressions on my face and laughing during those parts so at least someone was having a consistently good time.

Pretty much every conversation between Jacob and Bella was a riot, and when Jacob took his shirt off with no warning I completely lost it. My cousin tells me that in the books, the werewolves lose all their clothes when they ~*transform*~ but tie pants to their legs so they'll have something to put on when they change back? I'm pretty sure they don't mention that in the movie or show the werewolves running around tripping over their pants (and, apparently, the underwear that they shove in the pockets so that it can ~*teasingly peek*~ over the waistband of their cutoff jeans later on). Or maybe that's not really true; he hasn't read the books either. In any case, having Big McLargeHuge running around in nothing but shorts the entire time made the eventual ~*slow-motion reveal*~ of RPattz's pasty, hairy torso with his deformed left nipple pretty incredible. I kind of expected Bella to get a good eyeful of that hot mess and turn right back around to go home and get together with Rip Steakface.

Also I don't get why in SMeyers's world vampires can walk around in sunlight all they fucking want but werewolves have to tie pants to their legs. I guess we know whom she's willing to bullshit more egregiously for.

Black Friday: Better “Lady Bits” shirts, cheaper!

Nov. 28th, 2009 | 01:02 am
posted by: [info]caphill_feed

I bet this was the last place you were expecting a little Black Friday love, but I’ve got some and I’m really excited about it!

SO, if you’ve been the to the Capitol Hillbillies merch store, you’ve seen that it runs on CafePress.com. Turns out, CafePress is crap, and they’re were charging me ridiculous amounts of money to print sub-par shirts. Granted, it was easy to do, but I think you guys deserve better…

I’m shutting down the CafePress store and replacing it with a self-run, PayPal driven store — and the best part is, I’m getting LOCAL screenprinters to make the shirts! Everyone wins (except CafePress, boohoo). Since the “EEEEE Lady Bits” seemed to be the most popular, I wanted to re-do it, update, and be able to sell it to you guys for cheaper. Here it is, on a sturdy light blue cotton shirt, with an updated Stu graphic:

Lady Bits Shirt

Lady Bits Shirt

So now you can send this little piece of love to your favorite new-gay for the holidays! They’re only $11 now(plus tax and shipping). Why 11? It’s the most phallic number out there, duh. I had them done at Speck Print and he did a phenomenal job, so I highly recommend anyone in the Seattle area (and beyond) to check him out. Best prices I’ve seen!

GET THEM IN THE NEW SHOP

Thanks in advance for picking one up — and even if you don’t, any feedback on this (colors, sizes, etc) or future products you want to see made, let me know!

Tycho: Here's the second (and final) strip retelling Gabriel's harrowing past as a retail aggressor. I hope the writing process for this strip makes it into the show at some point, or at any rate that it is revealed, because he lays the whole scenario bare and it's not the sanitized version we mounted here in a jpeg.  It is a place of darkness, and those dark visions might bring him here, to the front page, to relate some measure of his crystallized fear. By hour one hundred and thirty-five, Desert Bus had gathered well over a hundred thousand dollars. As ...

I was cursed out on Christmas Eve for not having Holiday Barbie when the stupid thing had been sold out since June, and just like the comic I've been told a million times to "check in the back." It was my job to take the things that were in the back and put them in ...

Pomegranate

Nov. 27th, 2009 | 01:23 pm
posted by: [info]tvini

pomegranate
For the last few years our local store has had ever larger displays of pomegranate fruit. I've enjoyed pomegranate juice before, but had no idea how to go about eating one fresh.

I'm all about experimentation and discovery, and I'm always telling Emily that it can be fun to try new things. It's good for her to see me practice what I preach.

Maybe this is one of those things that I'm behind the curve on, but I had to go to Dr. Internet to figure out how to do this. Em and I read the instructions and watched the video here, then gave it a shot. Pretty easy! I didn't have a problem removing the fruit from the rind, but I hear that if that's an issue, you can put the seeds into a bowl of water. The bitter pith will float and the seeds will sink, making it easy to separate.

One thing I think about often as I shop for produce is how thankful I am for refrigeration, highways, and internal combustion engines. Clearly the auto is a mixed blessing with the pollution produced, but imagine how much poorer our diets would be without modern technology. This year, I am grateful that I can easily obtain all of the ingredients in my nutritious Thanksgiving meal, very few of which I would be able to procure without these modern marvels.

For the record, Em and I agreed. The pomegranate was quite tasty.
